This page explains how customs duties, import taxes and VAT work when your order crosses a border.
Orders within the United States
Orders shipped within the United States are not subject to customs duties. Sales tax, where it applies, is shown at checkout.
International orders
Customs duties, import taxes and VAT on international orders are not included in our prices or shipping charges. They are set by the destination country, they vary by product and value, and they are paid by the person receiving the parcel.
- The carrier or your local customs office will tell you what is due and how to pay it, usually before or at delivery.
- If you are unsure what to expect, contact your local customs office or email us before you order.
If a parcel is refused or not collected because charges were not paid, it is returned to us. We will contact you to arrange reshipping, or a refund of the item price less the shipping and return costs we incur.
What you pay at checkout
All prices are shown in US dollars. The total at checkout includes your items, any size or rush charges, shipping, and any taxes we are required to collect. Please check your total before you pay.
If customs holds your parcel
Customs offices occasionally ask for extra information. If the carrier contacts you, please respond promptly, because delays are usually caused by missing details. If you need a commercial invoice or any other document, email info@a1kilts.com and we will send it.
